  • Yertle the Turtle (6) - 2004
Yertle the Turtle rules all that he can see-a nice little pond on the island of Sala-ma-Sond. But that's not enough. "If I could sit high, how much greater I'd be!" the greedy king declares. Yertle commands his unhappy subjects to stand upon one another, building a "throne" that reaches to the sky. Only a burp from mack, the bottommost turtle brings his rule to a splashing end. Press gently on ornament to see the turtles nod their heads. 4½" h. $14.95 USA / $21.95 CAN QX8421 Hallmark holiday memory card included.

  • Oh, the Places You'll Go!™ (7) - 2005
In Oh, the Places You'll Go!, Dr Seuss writes about life as a journey, a Great Balancing Act. He points out that life has its ups and downs. We might find ourselves in a "weirdish wild space" and our "sneakers may leak." Nevertheless Dr. Seuss assures us that with brain in our head and feet in our shoes, we can dare to go anywhere. We are "high fliers who sore to high heights." We can move mountains. 4½" h. $14.95 USA / $21.95 CAN QX2112
    Hallmark holiday memory card included.

  • Fox in Socks™ (8) - 2006
"Take it SLOWLY.  This book is DANGEROUS!" Dr. Seuss cautions readers at the beginning of Fox in Socks (1965).  The clever Fox does his best to tongue-tie poor Mr. Knox.  When he's not giving him mouthfuls of "new blue goo" to chew, Fox is tossing Knox into the middle of a "tweetle beetle puddle battle."  Not so fun for Know, but for the bravest of readers, this romp is a perfectly silly way to find out "just how smart your tongue is"! Make the tower collapse and straighten up again by pressing the button on the bottom of the ornament. 3¾" h. $15.00 USA / $19.99 CAN QX2353

Holiday Traditions (1998 - 2000)
More than a century ago, in the days when Christmas trees were lighted with real candles for brief, magical moments, European craftsmen began producing beautiful ornaments of blown glass. These treasures, called kugels, were known affectionately as "tree jewelry."

Today the artistry of hand-blown glass ornaments is being rediscovered and given new importance at the holiday season. Whether you display these lovely treasures on your tree or mantel or feature them in a centerpiece, you and your guests will enjoy their elegance, shimmering beauty, and brilliant colors. Each ornament has been individually hand-blown and meticulously painted by hand.

What could be more relaxing than spending a day on the lake after stopping by the local bait shop to hear where the "big ones" are biting. Look closely at the design, and you'll find clues suggesting that Santa himself is inside the shop getting some new gear. He needs to replace that broken fishing rod he left on the bench out back!

To complement this scene, look for the Keepsake Miniature Ornament depicting the 1968 Murray® Jolly Roger Flagship Kiddie Car
(information included in the Miniatures area of this post). $15.95 USA / $20.95 CAN QX6631

It's a proud day when a town builds its first fire station. It's also the beginning of great traditions-visits by schoolchildren and fund-raising suppers that showcase the firefighters' famous cooking skills.

Keepsake ornament artist Linda Sickman based this design on a fire station in her hometown. The windows offer a glimpse of the office and living quarters-even a kitty mascot. The open door reveals a spare slicker, boots, and ladder. Look for the bright red 1924 Toledo Fire Engine
(information included in the Complements area of this post) that complements this ornament. 3¼" h. $15.95 USA / $20.95 CAN QX8052

  • Grandmother's House and Covered Bridge (4) - 2002

Hallmark artist Linda Sickman designed this set of ornaments in honor of family get-togethers and fond memories that last a lifetime.

Grandma's House is decorated inside and out, with garlands circling the porch railings and wreaths at the windows. Two little kitties are joining the fun this year. Look closely and you'll see them at the window. They're certain they can reach those wreaths if they just keep trying. Look inside the Covered Bridge to discover the heart-shaped drawings and names that have special meaning for the artist. $16.95 USA / $22.95 CAN QX8156

    Set of 2 ornaments: Schoolhouse 3½" h. and Flagpole 2½" h.
The American spirit is alive and well in this country school. A large flag appears in the window and another flies on the flagpole. Keepsake Ornament artist Linda Sickman has filled the windows of the school with clues to the ages and activities of the children inside. One room on the first floor is for the little ones practicing their ABCs. Older students have graduated to the second floor, where a teacher is lowering the shades to show a film. Ah, memories! Pressed tin and die-cast metal. $16.95 USA / $22.95 CAN QX8247

  • Hometown Church (6) - 2004
Set of 2 ornaments: Church 5" h. and Sign 2" h. From the doorway to the bell tower to the intricately detailed stained-glass windows, artist Linda Sickman has captured the look of the church she attended as a child. Linda remembers that the church, built in 1894, was at the center of the Christmas celebration. "It was always special to go to the midnight service and sing in the choir," she says. "We'd gather with our families to worship and give thanks. Then we'd go home and wait for Santa Claus." On ornament: "CHRISTMAS SERVICES MIDNIGHT 9:00 A.M. 11:00 AM" (on front of sign) "What if every day could be a little bit like Christmas!" (on back of sign). $16.95 USA / $24.95 CAN QX8201

The "Red Barn" has been carefully scaled for display with the 1999 "Farm House" Keepsake Ornament (the first in the Town and Country series) as well as the Antique Tractors miniature ornament collection. Pressed tin.

  • Flying School Airplane Hanger, Town and Country - 2001
It's easy to imagine the "Flying School" and airplane hangar standing in an open area next to a small landing strip.  The wind sock signals that the weather is ideal. The sign and the open hangar door suggest that the instructor and the student pilot are out logging hours in the clear, cloudless sky.

To add a whimsical touch of history to the scene, display with the miniature ornament based on the biplane flown by the Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk in 1903. Both the biplane and the airplane hangar complement the Town and Country Series of Keepsake Ornaments.

"The stories I know aren't very surprising," Pooh said. "I already know how they come out in the end." "Silly old bear, " Christopher Robin smiled.
